The best parts of real-world sporting events are the amazing stories of underdogs, the comebacks, and the unlikely heroes. Suzuka’s story has all those elements, and sport is merely a backdrop to this romance drama. The 26-episode anime focuses on Yamato Akitsuki, a young man who moves from the country to Tokyo for high school. Suzuka was serialized in the Japanese magazine Weekly Shōnen Magazine published by Kodansha. It was adapted into a twenty-six episode anime series and aired on TV Tokyo in Japan between 6 July 2005 and 28 December 2005. Yamato Akitsuki travels to Tokyo alone to study in one of the high schools located within the area. He lives in with his aunt who operates a public bath solely for the ladies in the local district and begins his normal high-school life. Yamato transfers to Aoba High and is quickly smitten with Suzuka, the school’s rising star of track and field. Unfortunately, she’s totally uninspired by Yamato’s irresponsible nature. When the young man decides to step it up and join the track team, even his best efforts might not measure up to Suzuka. Episode 6 A Day at the Park When a weird newspaper girl appears in front of Yamato’s room, offering two tickets to the amusement park with a subscription to the newspaper, Yamato thinks that the free day they have coming up is the best time to ask Suzuka out. Suzuka is there to compete, while Yamato is only a cheerleader. Yamato is depressed by his failures with Suzuka and the track team. Yasunobu encourages Honoka to confess to Yamato, or else Suzuka will steal Yamato. Honoka comforts Yamato after practice. However, Miki has told Suzuka to do the same thing, so while Honoka is with Yamato, Suzuka.

Unfortunately, Megumi and Yuuka go into his room to goof off, and his tickets end up getting shredded by his cat. When all hope is lost, Suzuka “humbly” asks him out, using tickets that she got from the same newspaper girl.
